Man, the light was dramatic that evening! I had decided to drive across the river to the east side and photograph the downtown skyline... While crossing the bridge, I spotted Mt. St. Helens on the skyline, bathed in intense golden light, sporting a nice ash plume, and framed by impossibly photogenic clouds. I'd have had to turn around and head in the opposite direction, into the West Hills of Portland to get THAT shot, but it was too late at that point-- I was committed to the eastside skyline-shot. If ever I've wanted to be in two places at once, that was it!
(Added in April 2007) This photo continues to rack up views at an alarming rate, apparently thanks to Yahoo's search engine. What are you people doing here? This is a site about BAMBOO FLUTES, not pretty sunset pictures!
